I'm seeing my boyfriend later today of 10 months (we're 18/19) and i want to ask him if he'll get tested for HIV/STDs with me.

Mainly because he and i know i'm clean cos i've been tested with my pap test and he's my first but he's been with others before me (protected apparently). I don't wanna acuse him of having anything cos i'm not or offend him, i just wanna be safe cos we've had unprotected oral and the condom broke once- so i'm personally at risk. Plus we get through sooo many condoms we run out and have to stop loads.

How about if i say "you know how we get through soo many condoms, can we get tested for hiv/std's and we don't have to use them than if you want?" - i'm on the pill by the way. Can you help me on how to say it without offending him since we've allready had sex :S?

If your boyfriend is not mature to be asked a question like this and not get offended, he has no business having sex at all. You should be able to ask him as bluntly as you want, because this is an issue concerning your health as well as his, and issues such as health and STD should always be discussed openly between partners. He should be even more concerned, since the both of you know that he has has prior partners, and there is always risk for the transmission of disease, no matter how safe someone may claim to be without proper test results. Many STDs lie dormant as well, so the symptoms may not be openly showing until much later in life. Do not by any means be afraid to openly talk about STDs with him, it is an important issue to the both of you if you wish to have a fulfilling and safe sex life.

You need to get tested too. Not all STD's come up on pap smears. I think only HPV might. So you can both do it together, how romantic. Just come out and say it. If you are having sex, you should feel comfortable enough to say what you like. I think what you said before sounds good. He shouldn't get offended, he will probably be happy not to have to wear condoms.

Having sex with someone is not the only way to contract Hiv. Im sure he knows this. So asking him to get tested should'nt be that big of a deal. Besides you should know him enough by 10 months to ask him without offending him. Good Luck

If my girl comes up to me and asks me to get tested for stds i would be pretty shocked. I would suggest that you offer to get tested with him,

Be brave and tell him exactly as you've presented it to us. This is not an unreasonable request. In any case, YOU be tested because you've been playing "Russian Roulette" with your life. If he won't go, dump him; you've only been his bimbo and he's only concerned about his own "needs".
