Your second reason is the correct one. The British public are apathetic (less than half bothered to vote) and innumerate (more than half the population don't know why you can't have a game of three halves). AV works in the same way as any other elimination contest. You choose who you want. If he gets eliminated, you can vote for someone else and so on. It's exactly the same as on reality TV shows except you put all your choices on the ballot paper in one go and you don't get stung with an 0900 number every time. David Cameron is Prime Minister because the Conservative party got the largest share of the vote and he is its leader. He was elected leader by AV. If the Tory party are so keen on first past the post, the person who got the most votes in the first round of voting should be Prime Minister - that was David Davies. Nick Clegg should be demanding that Cameron stands down as the price for continued Lib Dem support. Cameron's pal Boris Johnson was elected London Mayor by AV. If we'd had first past the post, we'd still have Ken Livingstone. (Not that I'd prefer Ken Livingstone but at least he supported AV unlike Boris) I suggest we stop paying the salaries of Cameron, Johnson and any Tories who were elected by less than 50% of the votes cast in their constituencies.

YES......I didn't agree either. Especially when the "deleted question" had been up for over 2 days. "It was deleted in less that 30 minutes after I had picked the B/A!" Hmmmm!
Boy, must've been another "glitch"
