Does your water have to break first when labor comes?
My water has not broken yet or I don't know if it will but I'm feeling this pain and discomfort on my womb and I can feel contractions.
Do I have to go to the hospital right away or do I still have to wait before the water breaks?

Do not wait for your water to break because that doesn't always happen. With my son I went into labor naturally and was dilated to atleast 8cm before the Midwife had to break my water. Usually the doctors say contractions coming every 4-5min lasting 1-2min or longer are the REAL ones. You will know when they're real.

If you are not term or close to term you should go to the hospital or at least give them a call so they can advise you on what to do. Your water does not have to break for you to go into labour, sometimes it doesn't break until well into labour or just before birth and some babies are born without the water breaking, but that is rare. Most doctors or midwives will break the water if delivery is imminent or if it will help the labour progress. If you are in true labour the contractions will get closer together and last longer. If you have had a LVS and are GBS +ve you will need antibiotics when your water breaks, so you will need to go to the hospital. If the contractions ease off you might just be experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions. Most times when you are in true labour you will have a 'bloody' show which is mucousy and has blood in it. If ever in doubt, call the hospital or your doctor. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

everybody is right!!

Your waters breaking is actually the least common way to go into labour and more than likely the midwife or doctor will rupture them manually when you get close to the delivery stage.

Wait until the contractions are 5 mins apart and lasting 1-2 mins and then go to the hospital. Ring them now to explain to them what is happening so they know to expect you sometime soon. Ring them again before you leave to go in so they know you are coming and can prepare a room for you.

Get active and walk around to encourage the contractions to strengthen and get closer together (gravity will help bring the baby down so don't just sit on the couch and hope it will happen naturally, it will just take longer)

Stay calm, breathe, drink lots of water, have something to eat while you still feel like it for energy and get in the shower for pain relief.

Best of luck

your water definately doesnt have to break beforehand... with my first my water broke then i sterted getting more and more painfull contractions then 8 hrs later my son was here, the second my water broke 2 days before hand!! both times coz i sneezed! lol. BUT everyone is different some ppl get it right b4 labour and sometime the doctor has to break your waters for you, which isnt a bad thing. Your should call your doc to let him know your contractions are getting closer so they can expect you.... sounds not far away!! GOOD LUCK!!:)

go to the hospital when you are having 3 contractions every 10 mins, and your water doesn't have to break. if the contractions get so bad they are unbearable go to the hospital. when i went into labour i was in a lot of pain, but the midwives sent me home coz my contractions for like you 1 every 10 mins and i was only 2 cms dialated. my water didn't break when i went to the hospital again when my contractions were 3 every 10 mins, i was 5 cms dialated they let me saty, and when i was about 8 cms dialated they broke me water.
have a hot shower it might help or go for a bath, water relaxes the mother when in labour.
good luck!!

If you are worried, name. It does now not harm to name and be reassured. If the contractions get to be 5 mins aside, move to the health facility, whether or not you are having agony or now not. Some females have little or no agony till the very final minute -- or close to none in any respect. (Lucky geese.) The health facility might ship you residence once more, however it is larger to be reliable than sorry.
