For starters, I'm new to video editing world so I'm not sure what it calls. Please see the sample video link

Saw the timer thingy? That's what I meant by realtime timer effect. Anyway, I'm doing a video editing and I want to add a fake timer effect to it so it looks a little like candid camera but i'm not sure how.

If I were to do it frame by frame, it would take ages. Anyone knows anywhere where they have a sample or tutorial online that makes that realtime timer effect?

And as an additional queries, how they make that BZZZZZT effect at 35.56 sec?

All answers and advise are much appreciated.

You can either add a real timestamp to video using hardware. This is the same type of hardware that adds timestamp infor to security cameras.

OR

Post production add simulated timestamp using software

The Buzz is a door bell. It is either the actual apartment buzzer or a prop. By prop I mean one that is fully functional an mounted on a wooden sounding board but operated by the crew. You can use what ever door bell you like . The one in the video appears to be a buzzer. You can make a busser by removing the bell if you cannot find a buzzer.

Hookup is simple just like a regular door bell. An AC power cord supplies power to a doorbell transformer. a button and doorbell connect to the transformer. The whole units especially the doorbell is mounted on a 1x6 x18 piece of wood as a sounding board to improve sound.
