Yes it is because your uterus is growing. If you are having constant pain on one specific side, then I would see a doctor because it could mean the fertilized egg is in the fallopian tube.

I am 8 weeks pregnat and get these cramps too. I had them the same with my first pregnancy but not so much with my second one.
Its usually caused because your uterus and surrounding ligaments/muslces are stretching and tightening and thus causes some cramps not disimilar to light period pain.

Your right that if it is not followed by bleeding or escalates to severe pain that all is okay.

i usually find that it is worse during /or after I have been on my feet for a while. The best way to help it is to take frequent rest breaks where you elevate your legs and try using a heat bag on your pelvis to ease the cramps and relax the muscles. Warm showers and baths can do the trick also. Taking a paracetamol if necesary is also okay.

If the pain does get worse and doesn't ease up anytime then see your doctor. Mention it at your next visit if it stays the same.

Best of luck and congratulations!

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and had moderate cramping from weeks 3 to 15, sometimes so bad I would double over in pain.
My dr and obgyn said it was completely normal to experience cramping like pain as the uterus stretches and practices contracting, though not common for it to go on for so long.
Every test/scan has come back absolutely perfect and I felt my baby move for the first time this week.

Hi I'm also six weeks pregnant and have been cramping on and off! Feels like tugging most of the time. Having read around it seems perfectly normal but I'm going to go see my doc just in case. At least you can blame hormones for overeacting to everything :-)

With my first son I had cramping up until 8-10 weeks, it was so bad that I could hardly walk, it hurt to even cough or get up from sittin down, so don't stress every pregnancy is different as with every person, from what i have ready everywhere and having gone through it myself it eems to be very normal with allot of people, sounds like yours isn't too bad though, if theres any bleeding with it go to your doc but other than that dont stress!! :) goodluck with your baby n congrats!! :)
