Like, the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls are definitely the team of the 90s in their respective sports.

Agreed - although I am a Wings fan, I don't think they can be called the team of the 90's - but they could share it with Pittsburgh, New Jersey, and Colorado. The Wings have had their share off success, and if you want to break it down into regular season wins, and playoff wins and all that you'll find a slight advtantage to Detroit, but not enough to call them Team of the 90's. They have been the most consistent team of the last dozen years, and certainly can be proud of their success, but nothing that qualifies as a dynasty.

There really was no dominant team in the 90s.
- 8 teams combined to win 10 Stanley Cups. (Detroit and Pittsburgh won 2)
- 16 teams made Stanley Cup finals appearances.
- No team won more than 2 Presidents Trophies. (NY Rangers, Detroit and Dallas)
- Only St. Louis made the playoffs all 10 years

In the 80s
- 4 teams combined for 10 cups
- 8 teams combined for all 20 Finals appearances
- several teams made the playoffs all 10 years

To all the above posters
in the 90s, Pittsburgh had more President's Trophies, More Stanley Cups, More wins, and more points than the New Jersey Devils (More individual and playoff hardware as well)

The Dead Things because not only did they won two Cups but blew a bunch of other series in either rd. 1 or the Final. Being always in the mix in the '90s = team of the'90s.

My opinion would be either the wings or pens, both won two cups. New jersey and colorado each had one, maybe you can count two for jersey, but they technically won the second one in 2000. All four teams had great regular seasons and good playoff runs. But I'll be biased and say the wings were the best during the 90's.

Red Wings and Penguins... consistently at the top of the standings for most of the decade (finishing no worst then 3rd - once...) with 2 cups each...

RE: Like I'm Telling You

It's not definitely the Red Wings. Wings fans need to take off their Red Wing colored glasses. Sure they won it twice but so did Pittsburgh and New Jersey. I would say that regardless of what Wings fans think there was no one team that was the NHL team of the 90's.
