I do not suffer from any condition like epilepsy or anything like that, it only happens with first man shooter games e.g. Half life, Resistance: Fall of Man. I do not suffer when playing Heavenly sword as it is a "third person" game. Can anyone explain? Thanks!

The length of time i am playing them ranges between 15mins - 1hr gameplay. That is when i suffer from headaches and dizziness. I don't think that is a long time.

It's rare, but it happens. It's called simulation sickness. The most common theory for the cause of simulation sickness is that the illusion of motion created by the virtual world, combined with the absence of motion detected by the inner ear, causes the area postrema in the brain to infer that one is hallucinating and further conclude that the hallucination is due to poison ingestion. The brain responds by inducing nausea and vomiting, to clear the supposed toxin. According to this theory, simulation sickness is just another form of motion sickness. Your best bet to avoid this is to close your eyes, look out the window, or go outside to get some fresh air.

it happens.. it's from all the movement on the gaming screen. everything moving all at once... same way for like, how some people get motion sickness or car sickness or perhaps water sickness (from riding on boats/ships).

just take an occasional break every now and then and you'll be fine.

in my own experience i only get headaches and dizziness after playing first person shooters, it's never first person anything else. just shooters.. also, it's not every shooter either.. usually it's only highly detailed first person shooters.

my best answer: i'd say the dizziness comes from the whole screen moving so fast all at once. (like if you spin around in circles to get dizzy because everything moves too fast)

Any game where the camera pans a lot gives me motion sickness, so there are many games I can't play. The headaches are probably from an eye problem, perhaps you need glasses. The dizziness could be a mild form of motion sickness. Unfortunately it looks like this is just one of those games you won't be able to play. I found that if I adjusted the camera speed to slower, it seems to help.

It isn't because of the game it might be because you are concentrating so hard, I have all the games you mention and others but the motion is virtual not real, I did have problems when I was playing "Prey" on the pc because one minute you are shooting upside down and the next it is from behind or underneath and also if the background is similar in colour to the target so you have to concentrate more in order to detect who or what you are shooting, the same thing can happen in some driving games where the road or track disappears into the background. I did ask my doctor if it was caused by the games and he said it was unlikely, Keep on fragging!!

The only time I experienced anything like that was Half-Life 2. I was getting very naseaus when I played for any length of time. It never happened with the original Half-Life nor any other FPS.
I think it may have to do with the 'bob', when the character bounces to simulate the moving body as you walk.

You never said how long a gaming session lasts?
Perhaps it because of the sheer concentration you are doing whilst playing, or even the length of time.
You do get screen flicker, even tho you dont actually notice it...Try pausing your game occasionally and looking away from the screen. (go and make a drink...etc)
