Dear Teresa. Many of your answers state that a priest / vicar are the ones who can marry lots of wives, what a lot of nonsense, All priest are bound by the Bible and that of the 10 commandments of which one states that man shall not covert another mans wife and another, man shall not commit adultery. Though out the priest hood I can imagine that a minority do not abide by those rules, and I state only a minority, A priests first loyality is to his God, however like all miscalculation of duties those who stray from the bible will eventually be caught out. To give a more true meaning to your question, there are certain religions that allow multiple marriages yet still have to stay with in the laws of the marriage ceremony, but allows a certain amount of freedom, however that freedom is limited as he still has the responsibility to his wives. So in reality man can not have complete freedom of being single if he is married by law. Even in the far reaches of the third world, there is still a ceremony to which a marriage is santified. However in the animal world an animal can cover as many females as he wants and yet still have the freedom to be single with out obligation. In the world of Animals, it appears that the stronger / dominant male animal can retain his collection of females to ensure the continuation of his line. It may seem stupid, but I wonder if whether animals have ther own type of open marriage by the way of cohabitation, a question that can never be answered. Good Luck....David.

Ps I understand the concepts of the riddle, but infortunatly it is is possible for a vicar to marry a wife, as a woman is called a wife only after the wedding and not before.
