An overweight blonde went to see her doctor for some advice. The doctor advised that she run ten miles a day for thirty days. This, he promised, would help her lose as many as twenty pounds.

The blonde followed the doctor's advice, and, after thirty days, she was pleased to find that she had indeed lost the whole twenty pounds. She phoned the doctor and thanked him for the wonderful advice which produced such effective results.

At the end of the conversation, however, she asked one last question:

"How do I get home, since I am now 300 miles away?"

Well, you cheered me up.

It reminded me that we need to be careful of the advice we give. We don't always anticipate the additional problems it can produce. That is always worth bearing in mind.

It also reminds me of a warning I was once given by a bishop of a church. He said "Be careful what you pray for, you may get your prayer answered, what is more the answer may not be what you expected!"

Good points

One other thing it reminds me of:

Scientist, technicians, politicians and medical staff, and all measure of 'experts' are great people. They offer us such wonderful things, that we take on trust.

They don't, however, always anticipate the wider consequences, like: MRSA; Global warming; more virulent strains of decease; less sensitive and caring communities; the sinking of the titanic; the reducing effectiveness of antibiotics; Health and Social Services more focused upon litigation than on meeting the needs of people they care for; Greed and selfishness; and more wars than ever in the history of mankind, killing more innocent people than ever before.

Think before you act, look left look right and then look left again :-) Even then you could be run over by a bus, or hit by a piano from above. The ground could always open up below you too.

Good story, good point and stimulating thought

Thank you. I hope you are well, if not I hope you do get well.

She needs that cat that was In Fisherman's joke the other day. It was better than a GPS tracking device. LOL
