I need my refund in a bad way this year!

You can file anytime. April 15th is the deadline for filing. Keep in mind, that filing early doesn't necessarily mean you will get a refund earlier. To file early, all you need is your W-4 forms from your employer, and a tax form that is completed.

You cannot file before January 2, 2008. That is the first day that the IRS will accept a mailed in tax return. E-filing starts about January 11 or thereabouts. However, don't get too excited about a quick return this year. There's trouble brewing.
