It has been shown that laughing helps to protect the heart. Although studies are inconclusive as to why, they do explain that mental stress impairs the endothelium, the protective barrier lining a person’s blood vessels. Once the endothelium is impaired, it can cause a series of inflammatory reactions that lead to cholesterol build-up in a person’s coronary arteries. This can ultimately cause a heart attack. Psychologist Steve Sultanoff, Ph.D., the president of the American Association for Therapeutic Humor, gave this explanation:
"With deep, heartfelt laughter, it appears that serum cortisol, which is a hormone that is secreted when we’re under stress, is decreased. So when you’re having a stress reaction, if you laugh, apparently the cortisol that has been released during the stress reaction is decreased."
Also according to Sultanoff in his interview for the article for WebMD, laughter has been shown to increase tolerance of pain and boost the body’s production of infection-fighting antibodies, which can help prevent hardening of the arteries and subsequent conditions caused thereby such as angina, heart attacks, or strokes.
Sultanoff also added that research shows that distressing emotions lead to heart disease. It is shown that people who are “chronically angry and hostile have a greater likelihood for heart attack, people who “live in anxious, stressed out lifestyles have greater blockages of their coronary arteries”, and people who are “chronically depressed have a two times greater chance of heart disease.”
So definately YES.
You will also be surprised just how much laughter is infectious. The next time something REALLY makes you laugh so you cant stop, just look at how many people around you are laughing with you. Its a wonderful feeling.
Hope this helps

Ofcourse, perhaps the most obvious of these roles is that related to the social life - jokes often allow people to connect and to bond, and sharing a good laughter is a good method to integrate in a team, to get along with the coworkers, neighbors and so on.
this function is vital from the point of view of mental health, since it reduces loneliness and, with it, depression and other problems associated with it.
also, try to find the funny side of the small things that happen every day around you - there is always something absurd or plain stupid going on right near you, which may provide five minutes of good laugher, which, in turn, may unblock some arteries and keep the heart attack far away.

Yes laughing releases the happy chemical from the brain and makes us feel good. You can also fool the brain by forcing yourself to laugh. Some cities towns have now set up laughing classes where a bunch of people meet up just to laugh.

Some mental health professionals say humor is one of the best ways to relieve stress, and research proves that laughter plays a key role in human life. A good laugh loosens muscles, lowers blood pressure, and may lower levels of hormones that create stress and weaken immunity. When you laugh, your body moves blood to your heart and lungs, boosting your energy level and making you feel better instantly. It also aids communication and creates a sense of closeness between you and the people you’re laughing with.

Vigorous laughter actually burns calories, so it's kind of like exercise. Since this is the case, I would say yes, laughing is good for your health.

totally! As my very dear friend (I wish) Patch Hunter Adams once said, "The American Journal of Medicine has found that laughter...
increases secretion of catecholamines and endorphins...
which in turn increases oxygenation of the blood, relaxes the arteries...
speeds up the heart, decreases blood pressure...
which has a positive effect on all cardiovascular and respiratory ailments...
as well as overall increasing the immune system response". Of coarse that was from the movie but it's a good one!

When thinking about alternative medicine, most people picture plants, crystals, needles, maybe some bugs and leeches, but few realize that jokes, humor and comedy are truly medicines, in their own Your "stay healthy" plan should include a joke and a 20-minute comedy show, to go with the broccoli and carrots.

Yes. It puts a smile on your face, which stretches your mouth and that keeps the wrinkles from growing on your cheeks. That makes you happy and being happy make you feel good.So your blood pressure doesn't go up too high and that is good for your health!
