A British Diplomat in Portugal had serious doubts about the authenticity of the McCanns version of the events of May 3rd. So much so that he sent letters to the foreign office questioning the unswerving support being given to the McCanns, pointing out to them that there were too many inconsistencies in the Tapas nine's version of events. The support the McCanns received during the early months is rapidly fading into the distance as the long awaited D.N.A. results far from clearing the McCanns open up the way to more questioning of the Tapas group. There can now be no doubt that there is enough forensic evidence to link the McCanns to their daughters disappearance, just not enough it seems to bring about charges AT THIS TIME. My question is this, can anyone still blindly believe the McCanns without question in light of the fact that not only the Portuguese but the British authorities now also admit to having serious doubts regarding the McCanns story.

Faith, he did implicate himself by writing the letter to his superiors. Surely you are not so naive to think that a British diplomat would question governmental decisions to Sky news or the like. These things go on behind the scenes, but make no mistake, the McCanns haven't fooled as many people as they would have us believe.

Very interesting information. And quite damaging to the McCann's. Just wish I could feel more confident that the evidence will be enough to catch and prosecute the people responsible for Madeleine's 'abduction' and all the lies and spin since.
Personally, I still believe (unfortunately) that the McCanns are being protected by very high-ranking powers who will see to it, no matter what, that they are never prosecuted or even charged with the chronic neglect and possible murder of their lovely daughter who had no one to turn to for help when she needed it the most.

Hi 17pdr... long time no see You're spot on, once again. There is nothing surprising about what is happening in the McCann case.... On seeing that the McCanns were NOT being believed anywhere on the planet, they decided earlier on "let's allow the furor to die down for a year or two and then we can start trying to discredit the Portuguese police in a final but probably effective (they thought) attempt to get the McCann further off the hook. --The problem is that the world settled with the conviction that the MvcCanns evaded the investigation and that must be because they are guilty. And because peope all over the planet are tired of the whole issue and have already decided who is guilty (the McCanns) they will not pay any attention to any further stupid attempts, like this one, at discrediting a credible western European police force. How childish ! In addition to "The Truth Of The Lie", Dr. Amaral has written another book basically saying the same thing. In the United States two books have also been written supporting Dr. Amaral and stating also the Madeleine died in the apartment. So I don't think there is much that the McCanns and clan can do try to save the McCanns's reputation. This latest thing is in my view nothing else but an attempt to clear the McCanns's name at the cost of anyone, in this case at the cost of Dr. Amaral but, yet again, they will not succeed. I say, like millions of others, that I choose to believe the Police in charge of the investigation and not the McCanns. The PJ Police have nothing to gain whereas the McCanns have everything to gain for pushing the abduction lie forward.

The British Diplomat is no different from the majorty of the British public who have also had their doubts about the McCanns from Day 1. I believe they were involved in the disappearance of Madeleine and, hope soon, that this will be proved.

Am I missing something here, diplomat doubts the McCanns, since when does a diplomats credibility actually mean anything and why eight months after the event. Of course he would bluster and say I'm a diplomat, I've got integrity, yeah! Quite apart from little Maddie being gone there really is something sad about this whole situation. Every negative morsel is leapt on like a starving dosser in the bin outside MacD's hoping to find crumbs or a whole big mac. Don't get me wrong, I am not a professional "supporter" but I do feel compassion for them as a parent, for parents who have lost a child. Given the publicity generated, the advances in forensic science, I watch CSI, these people would have to be unmitigated criminal psychopathic geniuses to pull off the most flawless criminal act in history an act so abhorrent how could they ask anyone to help commit it, and even given the fact that the Portuguese police have been portrayed as the keystone cops, I don't think so.
If I am wrong then I will hang my head in shame but I am inclined to think that the tabloids must be short on stories or giving the opposing view since it was reported yesterday or the day before that the McCans were just about to be cleared, which is a much more credible reason for this happening now.

The game's almost up,i think the next couple of weeks will be very interesting already we are getting an insight into some of the evidence against them.,fascinating stuff, which just might be enough.Yes, some people will carry on believing in them even as the cell door slams shut, possibly because it's scary to realise and even worse to face up and admit how easily you've been manipulated and duped into thinking the Macs are innocent.......truth is stronger than fiction.

Interesting piece of news.
We will just have to wait for any further news on this case.
So there does seem to have been quite a high level of input from the UK government at the highest level. I wonder why that was.
Would this have been the usual consular input in a case like this, and if not why?
Should these questions not be raised by an MP at some stage in Parliament, although it might be difficult to do so at this time?

Most British peole have thought this from day one,
( Apart from Politicians & Clebs )
They have always been guilty of child neglect, and that was enough for me to dislike them.
