"Be nice to people on your way up, because you're bound to meet them on your way down". If we all were just kind to eachother instead of trying to prove who is the best, don't you think the world would be a much nicer and safer place to live in?

This is to jinz I know what it is like to be hurt by people so I just can't bring myself to hurt another human being. I want to help as much as I can without sounding like a naive little kid I honestly think that a bit more kindness in this world would really make it a much bearable place.

You're right.
But this sums up what people try to tag as 'altruistic'. Is anyone ever completely altruistic?
The only reason for most people being nice and helping others is based on what they might get in return. Therefore it's a neat way of getting selfish ******* to actually try and be nice, albeit superficially...

What if your way down is a different route and you aren't going to bump in to same people? All such quotes are actually situational and case specific and thus have a limited applicability. So,it would be more appropriate to be nice to every body at all times but saying that doesn't make it sound like a quotable quote.Yes,the world would be a lot nicer place if we are considerate towards each other and one another.

You dont really have to be that nice to people on your way up, because you unlikely to meet the same people on the way down, unless your the only person in your department getting promoted or relocated. But yeah its nice to be nice, so should probably do it anyway.

I LOVE that quote. You know what it means, right?
To me, it means "Be nice to people as you accomplish things in your own life. If you step on people or are rude to people, they'll remember it if you ever encounter them again. You never know when you may need their help. No one is ever ALWAYS at the top."

That's a pretty good point. Too bad that some people think they'll never be on their way down.

It's called Karma. We all have lessons to learn, and if we screw up the lesson the first time around, we'll just have it presented to us again and again until we master it.

A very good quote.
I concur that if you treat everyone as you would wish to be treated yourself then even when times get rocky, as they do for us all, you would have support.
