really like this credit card at Big Lots. Plus I was planning on paying a couch there.
They had a sign down that said i could have only $20 dollar monthly payments if I paid on time for this couch but I have to get the credit card.
They couch is really cheap and I can just pay it off in two months but the problem now is that I need the couch now.
I just moved into a apartment and had to pay a really huge deposit because I had no credit history.
Do you think it would be wrong to get a big lots credit card?? What should I do?? Do you think the credit card will help me build up my credit??????

THIS WAS THE DEAL 6 months same as cash, no interest. $199 and up

And all I have in my apartment is a tv and a desk..no phone, no silverwear, no bed.....nothing.

LOL AND I'M ON MY MOM'S COMPUTER BUT SHE'S NOT WILLING TO LET ME HAVE SOME CASH TO BARROW

Getting started in life and having a nice place to live takes cash. I use my credit cards to finance big things-like I just bought a stove and dishwasher. I have a credit card that does not charge interest for a year. I plan on paying it off during that time period. Most credit cards have a huge interest rate and that's the important thing. Do not take any card that wants to charge you over 9% interest. If you have no credit history, you may have to pay more in the beginning. Pay off the sofa and do not charge anything else on it until you do. That's the trick with credit. It's very easy to run up a big bill that you have trouble paying and then if you miss a payment or pay late, they jack your interest rate up to 25+% and that's just stupid and then you are in big trouble. Never buy more than you can afford to pay for. If you get a different card for daily charge stuff, then pay that one off each month or do not buy anything on credit until you do. Just be careful and remember it's great to buy now and have it now but you have to pay for it later and when it's old and you're still paying, it's not as much fun. Use credit carefully and to your advantage. If you can't handle it, don't get the card. If you can, enjoy your new couch and payments. And think ahead about what you might also need to buy during the payment period. I won't wish you good luck, just use your smarts.

Get the card and pay it off quickly.

You won't build a large amount of credit off of a big lots card, if you're interested in building credit I can give you some good advice...

Skip big lots, and go to a furniture store. Furniture stores report every payment after it's made to the credit bureau. Quick credit raiser and/or get a gas card! Everyone seems to overlook these. Gas is something we all have to use in our cars. Buy your gas on the card. Pay it off when you get paid! Simple as that. If you have a budget, than you already have a plan for that money anyway, AND it helps build your credit!

Big lots won't hurt, but I don't know how much help (aside from getting the couch) it will be.

Here's the thing. Credit cards are all out to get your money. Plain and simple. Now if they say that its 6 mo. same as cash with no interest you must pay it all off by the 6 mo. mark. Otherwise you will have a crap load of interest. I don't know what their interest rate is but I'm sure its high. If you do get all of your stuff from there I would suggest paying it all off as quick as possible and closing the account out. Getting a store credit card always has higher interest rates remember that!! And make sure you always pay on time. Otherwise they may be able to slap interest on you right then. Read the whole pamphlet from front to back and all of the fine print. Good luck to you :)

No No NO, sit your butt on the floor till you have the cash. Store cards are typically the worse terms there are. Never ever ever use credit to buy something worth less than you will owe. IE a couch costs 200 you buy on credit take home now couch is used and only worth 100 but you owe 200. That's called being upside down, People do it with cars and they get screwed. For a car find out what the used value is and allways put a big enough down payment down so you owe less than it is worth. Welcome to the real world mistakes you make now can screw you in the future. Dont be in a big hurry to outfit your apartment like you parents house. Learn to scrounge, learn to make bookshelves out of milk crates. Pay cash for a beanbag chair, But do not go in debt for stupid stuff.

You have a lot of different options other that getting a credit card.

Go to a Thift store like the Salvation Army Thrift Shop and buy a cheap couch.

Check out Craig's list and Freecycle for you city or town to pick up a second hand couch for a very small price or even for FREE!!!

A credit card will get you into trouble fast, ESPECIALLY if you don't have the discipline to even save up for a cheap couch.

I CHALLENGE you to PROVE ME WRONG!

I challenge you to find a cheap or free couch,to save up the money to buy a nice one, and make me EAT MY WORDS for thinking you are just like all those other young folks who want everything right now and don't have the discipline to wait awhile.

Just to let you know where I am coming from......I am still paying for credit mistakes and debt that I accumulated in my 20's. I'm in my 40's now. Just say no to credit.
