An exposition comes at the beginning of something, setting out characters and ideas. An epilogue comes at the end of something, usually being a summing up of the consequences of the story just related.

Epilogue: A follow-up or aftermath of events in a novel. For example, "19 years later...".

Exposition: a literary technique by which events that have occurred prior to the beginning of a novel, play, movie or other works of fiction are revealed.
