Are they one of your main favorites? Do you like them? Dislike them? Hate them?

I'm not a big thrash metal fan (I listen to Metallica and Megadeth and like Slayer okay, although I'm looking at bands like Testament and Overkill), but I think Anthrax is okay at best... Maybe I'm judging them too quickly, since I've listened to only one album, but this album was Among the Living, often considered their best work. Maybe I should listen to it again or get more works...

I'm just curious. Nothing special really... Please state your favorite thrash metal bands too.

For me they are not one of the best thrash bands I've heard-I'd call them average. They have some very strong material (Among The Living, Persistence of Time)- but they also have some mediocre material. I'd say that if you do not like Among The Living then you'd probably not like their other work.
Their sound did change somewhat when they brought in John Bush, and although I was an Anthrax fan since their days with Neil Turbin and Joey Belladonna- I actually prefer John Bush as a singer.

Edit: forgot to name some of my favorite thrash bands. Overkill, early Exodus, Sodom, Destroyer 666 (dumb name- but good a band), Metal Church, Testament, and Municipal Waste.

Personally I am not much of an Anthrax band. The sort of thrash bands I like are Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura and Megadeth. However all of those bands best material has long passed.

I will give Anthrax their due though they are quite entertaining live. A friend of mine had a spare ticket last year for 1 of their gigs so I went along with him and they were good live. The whole crowd was into it as well. They had what was probably the biggest mosh pit I have ever seen at a concert.

I grew up listening to thrash/heavy metal bands like

Judas Priest
Metal Church
Megadeth
Venom
Celtic Frost
Rush
Nuclear Assault
some Testament
Accept
some Metallica

the only 2 Cds I dd have of Anthrax were in my opinion.
1. Fistful of metal
2. Speading the disease
Honestly, I was't a big Anthrax fan anyways

Here's My List
1 Metallica
2 Megadeth
3 Armored Saint
4 Pantera (Are they considered thrash?)
5 Metal Church
6 Testament
7 Overkill
8 Anthrax
9 Flotsam & Jetsam
10 Celtic Frost
As You can see I like Anthrax well enough but I like a lot of other thrash bands better. To me Metallica are the unquestioned masters of the genre.

Love them, makes me think about being 14 again, before I got the boobs and could still skateboard, :)

Of course they are a great and very important band too, as they paved the way for so many other bands an influenced so many of todays young artists. "Doing Bring the Noise" with Public Enemy was a great point in Rock History!! They were the first example of Rap/Thrash music melding and MILLIONS heard it around the world as it was a huge hit. The whole Rapcore genre started with that, so many acts follow that example, even it was done as a joke.

Trivium (Honorable point out to Metallica & Slayer however) BQ1 : Hmmmm...... this could be a tricky one I used to love BFMV & Black Tide previously they became into crap..... yet would not that still place them above bands i've got in no way truly loved in the 1st place like Kreator, Suicidal inclinations, and loss of life Angel? BQ2 : Um.... that's fantastic the way it rather is. If it wasn't on the assumption of being pioneers & exceedingly influential to the beginning up of the type however, and became into strictly on favoritism? i could merely throw out Anthrax & put in Warbringer somewhat

Anthrax has a few good songs, but the of it is mediocre.
Have you listened to Ministry? Give their song '*** Clowns'(which also features 'Jello Biafra' from the 'Dead Kennedys') a listen.
