do you think theo will send out ellsbury (an actual candidate for last years world series mvp & next years potential rookie of the year) for johan santana. i know johan is good, but do the sox really need another starter? (esp. at the cost of such a great player). they already got beckett, schilling, dicek, lester?, wakefield, and bucholz comin up.

As the old saying goes..."Don't fix something that isn't broken".

The Red Sox can't expect to just give up one solid rookie for the best starting pitcher in baseball. Right now it looks like the Yankees are throwing the better deal out on the table. To think the Red Sox offered Coco Crisp and John Lester for Johan Santana is ridiculous. Coco Crisp is a washed up player and John Lester is a (no offense) cancer survivor who has yet to prove himeself in the majors. sure he has more wins than losses but for Minnesota they wan't proven players to play in the bigs for Santana because they've already lost Torii Hunter and if they are going to lose Santana its more than likely that Joe Nathan would leave the following season. So the point being the Twins want players who can start playing everyday in the bigs. That would mean the likes of Jacoby Elsbury. The Yankees have offered Phil Hughs and Melkey Cabrera. Thats a far better deal than Johan Santana straight up for a center fielder who has had about 100 AB's in the bigs.

Theo has already said he would include either Lester or Ellsbury in a package deal for Santana but not both. The team that winds up with Santana will have to give up something substantial.

Epstein has already told the Twins that he would include Ellsbury in the deal, but that he would not include Lester with him. The Twins want both and have said that if they can't have both then the deal will get tabled. I think the Twins just feel there is more value to what the Yankees are offering up, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Yankees fan.

What I am asking is what the H3ll does Boston need Santana for other than to keep him out of New York because they're afraid it turns the odds in that division. There are a lot of people who feel that is the only reason that Boston wants him. Granted he would be an ace, and a far better starter than that azzbag Schilling. I'm sorry, he will never get my respect 'til he learns to shut his mouth so Terry Francona doesn't have to wipe his azz for him.

Perhaps Theo needs a little history reminder: oh lets say like the history making trade of Babe Ruth!!!!!!!!Hello.......we all know what that did to the Red Soxs , not only for that season but for many seasons afterwards. We do not need another curse do we? As for Santana, of course he is good, but are we REALLY hurting for another pitcher? It seems we did just fine this past year with our current pitchers. To trade Ellsbury, in my opinion, would be a GREAT LOSS, to the team. Ellsbury, yes, is just now a rookie, just beginning his career, but come on........look at this beginning. He brings numerous skills along with maturity, and is driven to prove himself, to himself, not to the almighty dollar. His speed, stolen base record, outfield expertise, and lets not forget his not bad batting record. Look at what got us to the World Series........alot of help from the rookies. When these rookies, along with our seasoned players, mix.....they will only continue to bring win after win. Why break up something that is obviously working!!!!!!!!!!!!!COME ON THEO.........NOT ANOTHER CURSE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

No, Theo is just bidding up the price that the Yankees will eventually pay for Santana. The Yankees are rich and desperate for a pitching ace.

yeah i think it would be wicked stupid for them to trade Ellsbury. like you said, they already have some really good pitchers on their team. they should keep Ellsbury so that they have some good hitting too, cuz i bet he'll be better this year than he was last year.

i think if jacoby leaves the red sox will pay. i really dont want him to leave because i think he could possibly lead us to another world series. i think if he does leave for santana i think in the playoffs one year that jacoby will hurt the red sox with everything he brings to the table and we dont need that. that is if the twins make it to the playoffs. we dont need another curse!!!! SAVE JACOBY
