I need a laptop that is good for business and education. Good graphics, sound and design would be good, price range would be under (Aus) $1300. I'm thinking of buying an Asus; are they any good and reliable? Also, can anyone tell me the difference between Windows XP and Vista (I know there is new widgets, but other stuff?), and what is the difference between Vista Home and Vista Business?

And by the way, how much GB HDD and RAM would you recommend?

Asus is a good brand. they make motherboards & other peripherals so they're well versed with computers. with regards to Vista & HP, well, the differences are its secrity & eye candy. Vista has a tighter security system & better looking interface but XP is more compatible with everything that's out there. works without a glitch. The Difference between Home & Business is that Business has remote desktop connection while Home has a media center program. to be sufficient with modern programs, i suggest you get a 100gb hard drive.

Asus should be good as a brand, but what is their support like? I have not seen anything on the forum about Asus systems as fat as user quiestions. Sounds like a little too much for a laptop. Can get really nice ones from HP for a lesser price and with good support. Go to the makers site for the software you want to run and see if they are compatible with Vista. Stick with the home versions and keep away from the business. It has several bugs and has even been offered free downgrade to XP from Microsoft for it's users. Go with a 200G harddrive, and 2G of RAM. Most systems will support up to 4G. Get a system with standalone graphic memory, not shared, for the best experience.

ASUS products are good. ASUS is a big motherboard maker and actually supplies motherboards for HP. ASUS is very popular among PC enthusiasts.
