If you're looking for something with 2 or more gbs of ram, you should know you definitely won't get it for less than 700$. When it comes to computers, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a laptop that is actually GOOD (or even just decent) be prepared to shell out at LEAST $1100. If not more. If you're planning on getting a new laptop, don't be stingy or you'll end up regretting it. Also, some stores will install XP for you over Vista if you request it.

I had all these same questions before I bought my laptop. But I figured if I wanted top quality I needed to get the best brand. If I were you I would get an apple. The MAC OSX program is awesome and it's fast. The chances of ever getting a virus are extremely slim. Plus the computer looks very stylish. Im telling you I am super happy with mine plus I use it for school and everything that I need. and I am always confident that it delivers the top technology.

The link above will display a refurbished Gateway MT6831 laptop. This pc is very good in performance. It meets all you needs.

Intel Core 2 Duo (1.73Ghz)
2GB DDR2
160GB HDD
GMA 950 Graphics
6.24lbs.
Windows Vista Home Premium

The only weakness is the GMA 950 which is an aging chipset. But it will work for many games at medium to low quality. This laptop is $599 + shipping. TigerDirect ships very fast for a great price and is very reliable. The customer service is awesome. Hope this helps!
