I would probably have bought them. The photographer came in early in the morning, kept trying to wake him up "to get a good picture" even though I told her I wasn't interested in purchasing the pics. Mentally I was flipping her off anyway.

They seem to ike to do that... my daughter also did that when she was a newborn.Kind of makes you wonder if this is what they think of the world they where born into ; )
We were never able to capture it in a photograph though. You could re-print the photo and make greeting cards with it and send it to some friends/relatives of whom you know that they see it with a sense of humor...it is funny, especially when the baby also has the correct facial expression that goes with the gesture. (really too bad we where never able to get a pic of when our baby did that...)

I'd call Guiness Book of World Records since your child has such a grasp of the concept of sign language at the age of 1 day.

I would think that the fact your baby appears to be flipping off the photog would be secondary in the photo. If someone calls attention to it, a la, "Hey look-he's flippin; the bird!", respond with, "I think he has his mother's nose-what do you think?" and just go from there if you want to draw attention away from the gesture.
Or you could just have a good sense of humor about it all and pray that this gesture in the beginning is not going to be a symbolic foreshadowing of the relationship your child has with older people as he gets older.
:-)

Well, since my son didnt' come out of the womb knowing what that gesture meant, and it's clearly a reflex or fluke, I would just have a giggle and enjoy my pictures.

It is highly unlikely that a newborn has even the remotest concept of "flipping off" much less the ability needed to execute such a gesture. "Flipping off" is a learned behavior.

Your son is a newborn, laugh it off as cute. It will be something you can show him when he's older and you both will probably get a good laugh.

My little sister did this. We didn't actually notice right away, but when we did - it was mixed reactions. I thought it was hillarious - my mom didn't. She's 16 now, it's fun to look at it and smile!.
