First of all last I heard Chavez was not a member of the Democrat Party. I was not even aware he was in any way endorsed by the Democrat Party.
Second a constitutional amendment that he was pushing lost (I have not seen this but am taking your word for it)- he is still in power
Third - this just proves the American right to have been completely wrong about him. Venezuela is still democratic and free.

So how is it a dark day for us?

Chavez did not "lose".... they just voted to ensure he had a term length...

Why would democrats have anything to do with it?

I'm glad he has a term length... and I'm a democrat.

By the way, in case you didn't know... the people love him.
And his country is the only place we can buy oil from that does not directly support Al Qeida...

And while our President is still trying to get through the 3rd page of "My Pet Goat", Chavez is being courted by Iran...

Only because it gives Limbaugh something new to throw at Democrats.! But, just because Rush says it, it does not mean that we give a flying .... that Chavez lost. We have plenty to worry about as to what our own administration is going to mess up next. Bush can darken our days!

Not much darker than the one that the republicans are expecting in a year from now...and in the USA can care less about Venezuela.

No, it's just a symbol of things to come.

Can you imagine the long, slow, painful hell democrats are descending into as they realize that the war in Iraq is successful and they find themselves tethered to their demands that the US leave the country because they still think we're losing?

I can't imagine anything more agonizing or embarrassing.

Don't take Rush, Faux News and the rest of that ilk as it is Gospel . Most Dems don't want any thing to do Hugo.

He is Venezuela's version of Bush!!
