I've always wanted to get this particular tattoo, but I keep chickening out... Well, I turned 50 this year and my son almost has me talked into it, but I told him I'd have to ask you guys...

I want to get a tattoo of John Lennon's glasses...my son's an artist; he's drawn up a really cool depiction and he already has a very reputable tattoo artist lined up...should I do it?

P.S. Just in case you need to know...I'm female.

If so...where should it go?

I just want the glasses because they were something unique to him...the whole face would be too "obvious". His glasses are kind of iconic.

I say GO FOR IT. I also love the idea because John Lennon = love, basically. <3 I'm not really sure about the placement, I'd probably go with your lower back.

I was super nervous when I got my first tattoo. I can't tell you weather or not to get yours but I'll tell you how I decided to get mine.
I did research on tattoo artists and the establishments. I picked one that was known to be very clean, they switch needles after every color and person and are a very clean environment. The tattoo artists I love the work that she does and every person that I talked to who has had a tattoo done by her loves it. She works in Topeka, KS and her name is Jennifer.
I also picked out the tattoo I wanted and I knew where I wanted it and then I waited two years. Making sure that if I wanted it after that long I would want it permanently on my body. The last minute I decided to change the color of the eyes, but I've had my tattoo for four years and I have never regretted it!
I'm also a female and yes I got it on the small of my back and its of a tiger, it's cute. I love it.

P.S. I ended up getting a second one about a year ago.

Well, if it's some place conspicuous, then you'd better prepared for people constantly walking up to you and saying, " Who's glasses are those supposed to be ? " And when you answer, " John Lennon's ", they're gonna say, " Why just his glasses and not his whole face ? ". That's the only drawback I can see in all of this...

You are 50, no one is going to think its stupid and no one has to know about it. I think you reached a point already where if you want it, you know you want it.... you are not 15 where you think something is cool one day and not the next.

Just go for it.

I would do it somewhere where i could appreciate it and look at it.

If you want to, then go for it. There's nothing wrong in doing what one wants as long as it does not hurt others in the process...

PS - I also have a tattoo of my own but your choice of tattoo is way cooler than mine. :)
