Its a tie. 15th and 20th.
15th, my mother throws me a suprise party and no one shows up. She called a friend to plan it but never told her when or where it was going to be and the friend couldn't get in touch with her to tell everyone else. So I get home to a banner and a bunch of party favors that are sitting on a table. My mother and 6 year old sister were there with bells and whistles on though.

20th: My friends call me, one by one, the morning of my birthday to tell me that despite the plans we made two weeks ago...they can't go out for various reasons. I pretend to be mad b/c they did the same thing two years earlier when they tried to plan a surprise party for me. (surprise parties run deep in our circle of friends). So anyway...I sit around the house the whole day thinking that this better be one hell of a party for me to sit around the house.
I tell my family to go on out without me b/c my suprise party will begin any minute. The friends even call to see how I'm doing and I just play along. Well about 7pm the thought enters my brain that MAYBE there is no party. So I get dressed and go out but then I realize I don't want to eat b/c there will probably be food at my party. So around 10pm I'm kinda pissed b/c I start to realize that I'm not getting a party. 11:58 a friend calls and tells me that she just got off work and asks me to come get her and take her home. I oblige, HAPPILY, only to find that she really just needed a ride home. Around 12:35 am I call all of my friends and curse them out and then go home and eat some cap'n crunch for dinner. Yeah that's about all there is to that story. Can I laugh at it now... I suppose (the nightmares have gone away sniff sniff, tear tear :-***( lol

I traveled from one city to another, changed my work plans to be with my Girl (later wife) on my birthday. She had made plans on her own without accommodating my slightest convenience. We had a row over it. In the evening when i was giving a party to our friends, she didn't turn up even after me pleading a lot.

No, i didn't laugh at it. Celebrating my birthday was never important for me except i see it as a chance to treat my friends and loved ones

The one I just had for my 35th this year. I couldnt believe it I called my brother and he was like whats up I am very busy. I had to remind him it was my birthday. Its not like there are too many people in my family either. Just my two parents, brother and I. He felt bad because a month earlier he asked me what I wanted I guess it just slipped his mind.

I wasn't allowed to celebrate my birthday for the first 18 years of my life because my mom is a Jehovah's Witness.

I got out of that cult as fast as I could.

Wow, that poor girl with the knife-fighting parents! I feel so bad for her! I just got a stomach virus and threw up all night, complicated by the fact that I had recently gotten my tongue pierced and chunks of puke kept getting caught on my tongue ring. Yeah, laugh about it now.

Mine was when I was turning 7 and my mom and dad were fighting with a knife when my mom had my little sister in her hand and my dad got mad at me for calling 911. No, I can't laugh.
