That's the beauty of test cricket. The greatest example is this current India-Pakistan match. India dominated first todays and the first session of day 3.
After that Pakistan has fought back into the natch with a fighting performance with the bat.
That's why test cricket is still far better than all other forms of cricket because it gives the teams a chance to fight back.
Cheers!!!

I agree with Monitude. We already have the shorter versions of the game. If you shorten test cricket it will just fade into ODI's and disappear.
Also, if two teams are evenly matched it is hard enough getting a result with 5 days, 4 days would create too many draws. They should go the other way and play until there is a result like they used to. If people know there is definitely going to be a result then it will create more interest then watching a team play for a draw.

NO!
Thats the beauty of test cricket. It checks how much patience a player has, how long can someone play without losing concentration, what is the player's stamina. All these things are equally important in cricket, man!
It can also test the ability of the bowlers,How can they keep fighting and attacking the opposite team.Do they give away runs just because it is taking a lot of time?
If you watch with interest, test cricket is good and should continue the way it is going on!!!

5 days are better than adequate, of course there are wins, loses and attracts. the issue isn't days yet flat, worst ineffective pitches. the form of crap you notice in India. Which could've been banned by using now. while Australia toured SL this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, SL have been reprimanded for a pitch because of the fact it had extremes in spin(you will get uneven bounce too). that they had a issue with that pitch which became a stable contest between bat and ball, and became exciting journey. yet have not got any issue with ineffective pitches. ineffective pitches are the issue no longer the days. Such pitches could be banned if attempt cricket is to proceed to exist!!

it should be played as two innings for both the team with limited overs to get a definite result. on the other hand it will hamper the basic intrest of one day match. so 5 days test match is ok to determine the players ability.

No, But it can be fixed like that first innings will be of say 100 over then second will be of 90 overs(if first innings team does not play 100 then remaining of can be added to second team's first innings)then third will be of 80 over and balance is for the rest. This kind of change will make test match more intersting without shortening the day & number of overs
For example
first team first innigs completed in 75 overs then second teams first innings could be for 115 overs but if it get completed in 86 overs then 80+29 overs will be for second innigs of first team and if they get out in 40 overs then all rest overs is available to seconds team in second innings
