I'm going with my mom while she's at a conference. She'll be in classes, so I'll be on my own during the day. What are some fun things to do? Also, we're staying at the Silver Legacy, so things that are within walking distance of there would be best. And I'm over 21, so there's not really a restriction on where I can go.

It will be warming up by then, bring a swimsuit, Lake Tahoe might still be a little cold but if not it is a beautiful lake to look at and drive around.

Go see the free circus acts at Circus Circus. Read a book at the Silver Legacy swimming pool. The El Dorado has some of the best poker games in their non-smoking room.

You can play miniature golf at the Grand Sierra or race cars on a speed track. One way to get there without your own car is to take the shuttle to the Reno airport and take the shuttle at the airport to the Grand Sierra.

If you have your own car, then I would suggest going to the Great Basin Adventure. They have a great open space with a water log ride, pony rides, gold mining, petting zoo. It is only 5-7 minutes up Virginia Street past the freeway.

The Sierra Safari is Northern Nevada's only zoo. It is about 10-15 minutes north on 395.

Also, there is Nevada's train museum in Carson City.

Drive down to Carson City and see the old capitol building and grounds. Then you can go up the mountain and see Lake Tahoe.

In Reno itself, up on the North Loop there is a really good arboretum.
