Why are people these days such idiots?

I bet I get idiots giving idiotic answers to this too. Easy way to make 2 points I suppose, seems as they don't know real answers to real questions.

Please don't get me wrong I am welcoming good answers, just none from idiots. By the way, If you are offended by this, its because you are an idiot.

OK, let me explain, In my short time of this Yahoo Answers system, I have noticed around 5-6 people who constantly give idiotic answers and are quite rude for no reason, and each time I log into this I see more and more of it, thats why I'm asking this.

Most people under 60 don't know how to think. They know what to think because the schools have filled their little empty heads with a bunch of nonsense. The schools simply don't teach kids how to think any more. It is sad too. Forty or fifty years ago we actually learned something in school and yes, we had to prove it by passing a test. And guess what, we got to repeat a grade if we didn't pass the test.

I have really witnessed a dumbing down of our kids. There is no reward for achievement unless you consider higher taxes to support lower achievers a reward.

Sorry, I guess I am just a bitter old man but I have seen, with my own eyes, a test and scoring criteria that gave a minority student a 50% + boost in their final score. Majority, 70% was a passing score. Minority, 17% was passing. We routinely settle for minimally qualified instead of most qualified.

It's just the beginning of the end.

Of course the attitude that, "Being a FOOL in school is COOL" doesn't help much either. Hell a few more two parent homes would be nice and maybe a parent smart enough to help the kid learn something might be a plus as well. The list is almost endless, I have only touched on some of the high points.

Several main reasons. (This doesn't apply to everyone, before i get the thumbs down)
Dumbing the nation down by government policy, They don't want the majority actually thinking for themselves do they. Just listen and swallow what your told. Anyone who cant see this is already trapped.
Parents to bone idle to educate their children, believing that schools have the sole responsibility for this. If you want your kids to do well a little help wouldn't be amiss.
T.V. Brainwashing the masses with dumb moronic cr@p. Have you noticed how many t.v shows repeat the same clip within the same show several times over? Are people really this dumb they need it drilled into there minds
I could go on.
But remember this from someone who leaves the odd idiotic answer now and again, If you don't mind playing the fool, you can fool anyone.

I don't think there has been an increase in idiots, I think the ratio of idiots to sane people in the population is about the same as it always has been. What has changed is the ability of those idiots to contact more people, mobile phones, e-mails and sites like these...Its the price you pay for being part of the communication society..

I honestly didn't even realize there was a point system until i looked by my name and saw that i had 140some points and i was like "what is this?!" i always thought people were just being mean and stupid when they answered other's people's questions with nonsensical answers, but then i read the whole description of the points and i was like "so that's why people are being so stupid". well, the whole point thing didn't change the way i answered questions. honestly, it's yahoo...why waste your life getting 2 points for wasting someone else's life who has actual problems and wants real answers?

I have to say I agree completely. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity, and have found that most people are fairly stupid lol. Here is an example....I was talking to a customer service rep. recently and she wanted to ask me some information to identify me as the person on the acount. She asked for my birthday... I replied 12.31.75. She said...and I'm not making this up!..."Is that 1975?" :-/ I thought to myself...no, 1875, I am 131 years old. I can not believe these people are able to function at all! lol

and to the poster above me...Elizabeth, what in the world is a pipo?? trying to help make his point are ya? lol

there are idiots and intelligent people everywhere. I dont think 'these days ' comes into it. There have always been and always will be idiots!

anyway, some give quite funny answers...passes the time at work I guess!

If you don't like P/S then you could always try another catagory. P/S is a bit of fun. There are more serious catagories. It is a bit rough to call people idiots though, just because you do not like their answers.

What are you basing this on? Surely something happened and this is why you're ranting. You'll need to fill us in a bit more, otherwise I'm afraid you're the one who looks like a ranting idiot.

And just an FYI for ya-- not everyone gives a crap about the points. I can take them or leave them, myself. But thanks for the generalization all the same.
