As my divorce already went to court and judgement was already given for child support for my child’s schooling. I choose not to fight for costs for university schooling thinking that at that time my ex-husband may provide the costs for that but seeing what my his is doing right now I don’t think that he would ever provide any support. Would I have to get another lawyer years from now to take him to court again for that or since judgment has been made it is final?

If he doesnt agree to contribute to anything further then YES, you will have to take him back to court in years to come to change the orders.

Its my experience to get everything and anything you can possibly think of put into orders...........because if it isnt in there they wont offer to help out.

I'm not an attorney and it's worth consulting one inany matter resulting in tens of thousands of dollars.

That being said in California the spouse paying child support only has to pay up until the age of 18.

I would suggest saving for college as soon as possible as the costs have escalated for past the point of inflation either by current earnings or any type of annuity.

The worst case scenerio is that your child or children can take deferred loans in which they can later pay.

Normally, child support doesn't go beyond the age of 18 or until a child graduates from high school, whichever comes first.

If your child wants to go to college when he or she is of age, have them ask their father for financial assistance....

unless your ex is wealthy, i dont think a judge will change anything... but it never hurts to ask.

take care.
