I am trying to extend the life of my current computer do you think it is worth it or should I just buy a new one. I plan on doing some gaming and also some video editing. Today I purchased the following:

1. 320GB EIDE Western Digital Hard drive for $79, currently have the stock 160GB planning on reinstalling Windows XP on the new one and making the current stock 160GB my D drive.

2. Kingston 1GB DDR PC3200 RAM for $54, currently have 1.5GB, planning on replacing the 512MB with the 1GB stick to have a total of 2GB.

3. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512MB AGP video card, got it on sale at Best Buy for $99. Is this a good card ???

4. CompUsa 500 watt PSU for $59, are CompUsa PSU's any good ???

So for about $300 do you think it will be worth it and do you think the combination will work OK ?? Or should I just save a few more months and purchase a new computer with a Quad Core, etc. ??? Please let me know what you all think. Thanks for any info. God Bless !

No matter what you do you'll still be running an IDE hard drive which is slower than an SATA, an AGP video card that runs 1/2 the speed of a PCI-ExpressX16 and old DDR3200 ram which isn't as fast as DDR2. I'd wait and get that quad core especially if you do video editing. You'd not only save the $300 on your new puter but then you'd have 2 computers.
Emachines are also famous for having short lives and it would stink if your motherboard decided to retire right after you bought a video card, hard drive and ram you wouldn't be able to use in a new up to date rig.

not relay for 500 you can build a totlay new and faster comp.
AMd 5000 x2 60$
4 gig of patriot ddr2 800 120$
asus mobo 80$
50-100$ for a case and a
500g sata hdd 120$ and a video card 100$
600$ about so save the little money and give that old comp to someone who doesnt have 1 .

I would just save up my money & get a new one. The prices are getting cheaper all the time& you will probally be able to get some good sales .That way also, you would then have 2 computers. That way,you would always have a computer ,that is working.

Sounds like a good price for basically a complete overhaul to me, but obviously you'll get more bang for your buck with a totally new PC. The graphics card you bought is good, but you could have got it online a lot cheaper (sorry). As far as power supply, brand name doesn't matter nearly as much as knowing whether you have enough amps on the 12V to run your components.
