I made the slpknot but i'm not sure imade it right, i'm just trying to make a basic chain, but the instructions i have aren't worth a crap.. they're confusing, if anyone knows how to explain them better, or a site to show me how to do it in a very crochet newbie way, that would be great..

I'm assuming that you are joining your chain at the ends...
either way...
for your chain...
make a loop
place your needle in the loop and pull back through while bringing a loop of yarn with it
- you now have your first stich and you have also done a yarn over
ch = chain
yo = yarn over (wrapping a piece of the yarn over your hook and usually pulling it back through the loop)
a slip stic is nothing more than making 1 chain and pulling the yarn through any and all loops that are still on the hook.
I hope this helps you out...

if you are at the end of your chain make one more stitch cut the yarn about three inches from there and pull till the last stitch disappears. At the begining I hold the string so that my first finger and thumb are holding the string with about 2 inches from the endthen I wrap the two inches around the yarn put the end through the loop I just made. Put that on my hook and tighten.

It is easier when you have someone show you. Check out U-tube and type in slip knot in Crochet. Also there are many sites that have pictures and instructions, like http://yarnstandards.com/tip_crochet.html
There are lots of links in the group below too.

There were a bunch of video's on youtube that made the slip knot seem really hard lol
Here's one that was good. She makes a slip knot then shows you how to start the chain. This should get you going.
