rhetoric and logic tells me that dividing by 0 is like not dividing at all.
so x/0 = x.

I know they'd have to re write ALOT of math books (all of them, perhaps)

but I wonder where that would lead, we do have euclidian geometry.

maybe this could be Alexisian Division...
I called it first, yeah!!

Look ar the limit of x/y as y gets very small
x/.1=10 x
x/.01=100x
x/.001=1000x
...........
x/0=?????

then x/0=x can not be the right limit for very small y

EDIT implications
x/1=x if x/0=x then x/1=x/0 so 1x=0x so 0=1
but 1+1=2 =0+0 so 2=0 etc therefore all numbers are equal to 0

No one 'decided' that anything defided by zero is undefined, it is logical, think of it like this. If i have 4 oranges and have to give it to zero people how many oranges does each person get. But you can't give oranges to someone who doesn't exist.

You could also think of it like this, 4/0= undefined as you dont know how many lots of 0 go into 4.

Hope this helps, the division of a number by zero is actually a concept.

but then if 2/0 = x
then 2 = x * 0
what number multiplied by 0 equals 2?

oh what about 0/0
if 0/0 = x
then 0 = x * 0
and x can be anything

If you think about dividing something, it makes a little more sense. If you have 12 apples and you divide them into 4 groups, you have 3 in each group. If you divide them into 1 group, you have 12 in that group. That's why x/1 = x

But how can you divide 12 apples into zero groups? No matter where you put them, they're still in at least one group.

well...haha ur right i guess

do u want to see another cool thing?

0/0=4

because...
0/0=0(4)/0
the zeros cancel out on the right side...
so 0/0=4

A bunch of my friends realized that in my calc 2 class
and when we showed the math teacher it...he was speechless

:)
