I have cable internet connection which uses a router. My internet connection is down very often through out the day every day. Everytime it is down, I would have to unplug the internet cable connection from my router, then replug it in again, over and over and over, until my internet connection works again..... What is wrong with my internet connection? Do I just have a defective router or is it my internet provider's fault ? Which means, I should call my internet provider about this?

I was having trouble almost identical to that. I had done everything I could think of (which was quite a bit, I'm not an expert but I'm no dummy about it either)..finally got the cable folks out and they went through it, and couldn't find anything 'wrong', but the only piece I hadn't already replaced was the modem. So, I said 'I'll rent a modem for a couple of months and see how it goes', and haven't had any trouble at all with it since. I have NO times that I am not connected.

So, in short, yep! Call your provider, and start having fun on the net again :)

Oh, btw, I've got comcast, and it didn't cost me ANYTHING to have these guys out to see what was going on. I do have to pay a little extra each month ($3?) for their modem.

in case you have a community cable out of your cable modem on your router, attempt plugging that quickly into your pc as a substitute. in case you nevertheless get failures, then it incredibly is maximum possibly your ISP or a defective cable modem. If the failures provide up then your router replaced into possibly the concern. in case you purely have one pc, then do not want the router and can connect the cable modem quickly into your pc - except your router is built into your cable modem, this is on occasion the case. If that's what you have, call your ISP and ask them to run a diagnostic on it or ask them to interchange it. it is likewise possible which you have a virus or spyware on a variety of of of your desktops this is unquestionably inflicting the disconnect, so determine you run an entire virus test and spyware test. in case you have multiple desktops on your community, test all of them and attempt attempting out your internet connection with purely one pc at a time linked. this might help you identify if considered one of your desktops is the concern. no remember if that's, take it to a specialist technician to have the concern clinically determined and caught.
