Well this all depends on two factors here. What is your definition of an animal and what is your definition of dangerous.

When you say animal, are you referring to large mammals, reptiles, fish, etc.? or could it mean any creature from single celled creatures all the way up to the Blue Whale?

Dangerous, do you mean threatening to man?, meaning most likely to attack, or do you mean deadly?, the ones that when they do attack humans, result in the most fatalities.

Ok lets answer them all.

Large Animals most likely to attack humans.
- Numerous species of sharks, although this is debatable.
- Crocodiles
- Hippos
- Polar Bears
- Tigers
This list could go on and on, but I think that the large animal that is most likely to attack a human is the Hippo, they really do not care what they attack. They normally do not attack inadvertantly though, meaning they will not stalk a human, but will attack if threatened. The creature that will stalk a human are the large cats, specifically Tigers, Leopards, Jaguars, and Mountain Lions (Pumas, Cougars, etc.)

Now of all the creatures, both big and small, the most likely to attack humans is the smallest, and that is the virus. They are non-selective, and will attack and infect just about any creature, especially mammals, and this includes man.

Now the most deadly. The one in which a human would stand no chance.

Large animals, again this is a long list. But in my estimation, the one creature that a human would almost always wind up dead in a confrontation with is the Salt Water Crocodile. This creature would snap a man in two without even thinking about, not that they would think about it. They are massive creatures and are aggressive. They are deadly both in the water and on land.

Now for all creatures meaning both big and small. The answer is the same as the most likely to attack.....The Virus. Even though mosquitos have been said to be the most deadly creature on the planet, a mosquito does not kill, per say, but the Protozoan Parasite, that causes malaria, that they carry does kill. The mosquito is simply a carrier. In my estimation, the virus is the biggest threat to mammalian existence on this planet. Think about it.......

- Common Cold / Flu..virus..Deadly...No Cure
- Dengue Fever..virus...Deadly...No Cure
- All Hemmoragic Fevers...Virus...Deadly...No Cure
- AIDS...Virus...Deadly...No Cure
- Avian Flu...Virus...Deadly...No Cure
- Ebola...Virus...Deadly...No Cure

See a pattern here. These viruses are not single diseases either, as there are different strains of each of these viruses, some more deadly than others. The Ebola Virus is becoming the largest single factor in the demise of the Mountain Gorillas of Africa. This virus is running rampant in the gorilla communities and are literally wiping them out. Poachers and habitat destruction is also a contributing factor, but Ebola is capable of wiping out entire gorilla clans in only a few short weeks, sometimes faster.

Viruses, even if cures are found, have an unbelievable rate of mutating and adapting so as to become immune to these cures. It is really scary, a single virus strain that becomes air born, and is deadly, could really threaten human existence on Earth.

That's the way I see it!!!!!

It depends on how you define dangerous. If we exclude the obvious choice of humans there are two ways to figure it 1) the number of people killed every year or 2) your chances of surviving an attack. By going with 1) the winner is the mosquito hands down. 2) is a bit harder because it depends on who you listen to. No creature attacks humans with a 100% mortality rate but the closest ones are probably the box jellyfish, the geographus cone snail, the inland taipan and the blue-ringed octopus. Geography pays a big part here because I've never heard of anyone being killed by a hippopotamus in Topeka, Kansas yet they kill far more people in Africa than any other creature. There are other creatures that pose no danger if you stay away from them like the African elephant but if you get one mad at you on the plains of Kenya your life expectancy is measured in seconds. Probably the most all-around dangerous living creature is the small pox bacterium which has decimated entire populations.

In specific areas of Africa and Asia the mosquito spreads ailments like malaria and dengue fever - becuase they suck blood from human beings and on an identical time as they're doing this they could be passing on the parasites that reason the ailments - they do no longer seem to be unavoidably deadly yet malaria may be deadly if no longer dealt with quicky or maybe regardless of the undeniable fact that information selection, they do have self assurance malaria kills someplace between 500,000 and one thousand,000 human beings a 365 days - so in case you're talking approximately threat to human beings in terms of volume affected, the mosquito might certainly be greater risky than a lower back mamba which even regardless of the undeniable fact that greater probable to kill you if one bit you, is vastly much less probable to chew you than a mosquito - because of the fact mosquitos are incredibly everyhwhere in those warm countries and actively seek for human beings out, while black mamba's are fairly shy till they themselves are below threat - they have an inclination to consume small mammals so does no longer decide for a human till it replaced into attacked or felt threatened.

Other than Man, I'd vote for the rats. Look what the Black Plague did.
