It was a white woman that challenged Affirmative Action, I believe it was either Mich. or Illinois University law school. It was when Bush was trying to get his Judicial Appointments through the Senate. This is when Trent Lotts Chief of Staff when on a Senate computer found memo's from Kennedy, and a former staffer that is now a lawyer for the NAACP, telling the other members of the Judicial Committee to hold up an appointment of a female Conservative Judge because if her appointment went through to the Circuit Court of Appeals that Affirmative Action would loose. It was in the Wall Street Journal. The Chief of Staff was forced to resign althrough the Sgt. of Arms for the Senate said he did nothing wrong. It was the Senators that placed the memo's on a communial computer that screwed up. The Hispanic Chief of Staff for Lott said that there were a few thousand memo's that had made it onto the computer. Lott told him if he resigned he would release the memo's. Lott lied. Lott's former Chief of Staff said that if the memo's became public it would colapse our Judicial system. Makes one wonder what kind of scum are running the Senate.

NO ONE should EVER be a part of affirmative action. Our colleges need to choose the best qualified students and if those students happen to be whites, blacks, Asians, males, females, whatever, SO BE IT!!! The civil rights movement was striving for a country in which race did not matter at all. Has our country lost sight of that dream?

Yeah, and isn't it hilarious that, in spite of the fact that they attend and graduate college at higher rates, white women *still* aren't PAID as much as white men for doing the same job and are *still* herded into traditionally low-paid human services jobs? It's great. Even white female actresses (Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz) aren't paid half as much as their male counterparts (Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson).

What about first-generation whites? (such as myself). My parents are immigrants. Just because I'm white doesn't mean my life was easier than a minority's. This is what is never figured into affirmative action laws. I'm old enough now that it doesn't effect me, but what if it did?

Women empowerment must be encouraged because they should be treated as equals with men. Asians must also be treated similarly with citizens especially that they are more inclined to attend college to be better citizens.
