These are the same black people who point out racism. Isn't that what they are doing to you? If we want racism to go away, people like this need to stop putting race in your face. Judge people by their deeds not their color. Be yourself. You sound too intelligent to want to be part of them.

Break away from the mold. Im not saying that those characteristics are bad, its just theyre just too commmon..even among people who arent even black living in the suburbs....
You sound like a cool person, not feeling the need to do any of those things to fit in.
Ironically, the people in my city do those things, except most of them are asian lol. Even the black people dont try to act as black as some of the asians in my school do. I live in the Bay Area, in California, and most of the cities are suburbs, yet a LOT of people insist they live in "the ghetto." I went Jamaica this summer, whic is a third world country, and the black people there dont do ANY of things you mentioned lol. maybe its just a an american thing. well, good for you for being your own person. damn im writing to much lol

Because we live in a society full of stereotypes.

Don't ever pretend to be anyone you're not and don't ever let anyone make you feel like less than a person for any of the above listed things, or like you aren't -anything- 'enough'

As long as you know what you are doing is right, who cares what enyone else says?

be genuine.

That's the status quo for ya. I always try to avoid going along with the status quo, because you know how dumb the average person is? Well, by definition, half of them are even dumber than that.

Be yourself. Anyone with a brain can see through this act. If you want to attract someone who is intelligent then just be yourself.

uh wrong section.

anyway, it's because it's a stereotype. I realize that most black teens- well ALL teens- think that one is not black, but must "ACT" black. *shrugs* I don't care if ppl think I'm black or not. I AM, but I dont' have to pretend to be something i'm not.

I think most men feel they have to hold
a tough exterior(not crying, showing endearing emotions, etc.)

Just be you.
