The person who wins will be the person who gives Americans the most hope. Over the past several years, both Republicans and Democrats will admit, the public's faith in government has dwindled. This is shown most clearly in the recent job approval numbers for the President and for Congress. While Congress almost always has a low job approval rating, it seems now to be at an all-time low. Numerous scandles have rocked both the executive and legislative branches and the American people are growing very weary of the war in Iraq. Democrats are looking for another John Kennedy and Republicans are looking for another Ronald Reagan. Both of those men inspired a tremendous amount of hope in the American people. Citizens became more optimistic during their terms and were challenged to work toward a better tomorrow which these men both proclaimed to be in America's future. Today, Americans are looking for an individual who will do the same. That is why I do not believe Hillary Clinton, Rudy Guilliani, John McCain, or Fred Thompson are electable. People will call me crazy, but these people are seen as somewhat pessimistic, negative and shrill. They simply come off the wrong way. Fred Thompson entered the Republican race with much fanfare, but has underperformed. This is shown clearly in the latest poll numbers out of Iowa. He's at 18%, wedged in between Mike Huckabee and Mit Romney. As voters are more exposed to Thompson, I believe his numbers will continue to slip. The Democrats may nominate Hillary, but if the Republicans nominate an optimistic candidate like Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney, she will likely lose. On the other hand, if the Democrats nominate the Kennedyesque Obama, and the Republicans nominate Guilliani, they will likely lose. Again, the bottom line is hope. The next president will be the person who most inspires the American voters, despite who the talking heads on television tell us are the "front-runners."

if there is a really bad recession, unfortunately, it will probably be a democrat. When the economy sucks, the incumbant (or in this case the incumbant party) usually gets annihilated.
If the economy is doing well, or at least neutral, it will be VERY close and it will depend on who runs on a third party.
If there is a third party candidate who steals a lot of republican votes, the dem will of course win. And vise versa if there is a strong third party canditate who steals dem votes.
My guess is that Hillary Clinton will win because Ron Paul or someone like him will run 3rd party and take enough votes away from Guliani to ruin it.
Still far too many variables to say for sure. The economy is number one issue.

The person who has the best stance, not flip-flopping, and gives us the most impression as a leader. To sum up, the person who can bring our country back to the road, not some one who's gonna bring this country to valley of depression. We don't know who yet, but this is the person I want.
However, I don't yet who gonna get my vote, for now on Obama is my favorite.
