I'm in 7th grade and for a homework assignment, I need to compare similarities and differences of life in Lincoln County, England to life in Holland, Michigan, USA. If you could help me out here, I would greatly appreciate it.

What types of sports, foods and activities do kids my age (13) like to do? What about church, schooling, after school clubs? What is homelife like? Family traditions?

Any insight on any of the above or anything else that you might be willing to share, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Lincolnshire is made up of three counties; Holland, Lindsey and Kesteven. It is situated on the east coast of England and has many popular holiday resorts. The people are nicknamed the 'Yellow bellies' ( try to find out why) it has a magnificent cathedral at Lincoln, just outside Lincoln is the RAF base of Scampton, home of 617 Squadron 'The Dam Busters' the Romans called Lincoln 'Lindum' the countryside is agricultural and very flat, in the southern part of the county are the fens. As Christine H suggests look up the 'Lincolnshire Echo' or just go on line on Google and put in Lincolnshire, best of luck

Lincolnshire is the second largest county in England here are a few links to sites that may help your research..Lincolnshire is a rural county very beautiful with hundred of small villages and market towns, each region having its own character and style. In the North of the county there is a lot of heavy industry, steel mills and petrochemicals along side farming, whereas the south of the county is nearly all farming.
Lots of sport facilities available as well as sporting clubs, football, cricket, racket sports, horse riding, country sports. Many children travel into school because of the remoteness of county villages. Nearly all villages have a parish church, with its associated church activities although I doubt if many have any youth activities.
Home life is pretty much the same as anywhere else however we don't suffer the street crimes that big cities suffer.

I have added a link to William Farr Church of England School which is just outside Lincoln City in a Village called Welton, it would be the type of school a person of your age would attend take a look and see what you think.

I know of Holland in The Netherlands...all countries have the same type of activities and while the food is different, and how they speak, but people are really the same everywhere.
Every town has a church, town hall, city offices, sporting grounds etc, and every day I see people going to work or school, and I think, "you could pick them up and place them in another city, and they would adjust".
I used to be in grade 7, but I can't remember what it was like..so good luck for the future,
And top marks for your spelling, some adults are not as literate as you.

You could try putting The Lincolnshire Echo into your search engine.

It is a local paper with some great links.
