World building is an ongoing process. Even once you start writing the actual story you'll add to and edit your world. I find it's the hardest part of the writing process. I think that's one reason people like to write books for a series or historical fiction. You don't have to invent the underlying world. But the best written books are always the ones with a rich and fully realized background.

Good luck to you, and don't be discouraged if it takes a while.

You're doing fine. It's not unusual to take years to write a good novel. I've had stories published, but my novel has been in the works for about ten or twelve years. So ... not to worry! ;-)

It doesn't matter how long it takes. It whether you are happy with it or not. Many books take several years.

perhaps you have writers block - you will do it when you are ready - time lines vary - take 20 ,meditations daily and say nothing matters at this moment - eventually you will learn to clear your ,iond as second nature and write away
