I think if you have a wide variety of interests that would indicate high intelligence. If you can get something out of a wide variety of music and art that would indicate high intelligence. Closing your mind to something would indicate lesser intelligence.

In my opinion, I don't think so. I am a fairly intelligent person, and listen to all kinds of music. (Coincidentally, Mozart IS my favorite of the classicals!)

I think it is more towards who only listens to 1 or 2 types of music would be a closer analygy. It would seem like those people would tend to be very closed-minded.

No a persons intelligence can not be estimated by their music. mozart does help people to subconsciously analyze complexity, but it's not going to turn you into a genius... i'm consider my self pretty smart, and I listen to techno.

Music doesn't affect you're intelligence, it might influence decisions you make, and lifestyle choices and it may make you look stupid... but at the end of the day, you aren't stupid because you listened to some crap all day.

i beg to differ, actually some of the most intelligent people that i've ever met don't listen to Mozart. I happen to be one of those people; not to say that i don't like Mozart but i prefer to listen to something a little more challengeing

Hi Tom, hows Myspace going? To answer your question I find that people with diverse musical tastes tend to be smarter. It dose'nt matter if it's Hip Hop or Classical. But one should never limit thier musical tastes.

Cheap Trick is in Tom's favorites so he's cool. Yes I think people with a varied taste in music are usually intelligent. But I don't think liking classical necessarily means intelligence.

No, a persons intelligence cannot be estimated by the type of music they prefer. I listen to all types of music and I have a genius IQ.

I've read that the Mozart study was disproved.

I doubt you could be accurate with any attempts to estimate intelligence by music preference.

On the other hand, most country music fans seem pretty damn stupid.

i do no longer think of intelligence may be measured by using the type of track someone likes. human beings like various forms of track. there is not any specific sort that exemplifies intelligence or lack there of. i'm advantageous that no longer each smart person likes an identical sort of track.

I listen to a wide range of music and I am open minded so I would definitely say there is a correlation between musical preferences and thinking.
