I had my internet connection suspended because of excessive downloading. When I told them I hadn't downloaded anything they told me that just because I didn't do it that someone else nearby by neighborhood could use it just the same. I am wanting to setup a password on my connection so hopefully that will help me secure it. If anyone can help me setup a password I would greatly appreciate it.

That's easy one log on to router and change wep or wpa settings. But why in the world would you have ISP service that sets band with limits. I would look for different iSP like earthlink or yahoo at&t.

look on the router, probable below it on the label. there could be an IP handle. something likg 192.168... once you're linked to the router on the spot connection, open a internet browser and form that into the URL bar. it is going to deliver you to routers working device. discover the section that asserts protection and choose which approach from the ideas (wep is worry-loose yet wpa is greater preserve) set up the password If it activates you for a password until now you even get into the protection section, then username and password could additionally be on the label the place you got here upon the IP handle, if it isnt then you definitely many times only press the log in button on a similar time as leaving the fields blanks or username is almost continually admin or administrator and the password is password

You need to access your router control panel. Often this is located at http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 Consult your users manual for your router/modem (available online)
