Great question !!
The concept of God is perhaps as old as civilization... say something like over 10000 years old.... before that we were actively finding ways to fight insecurity.... once we got into societies, we would have imagined as though our insecurity problems were over.... then we would have realized that no, there is no foolproof answer to insecurity which is primarily the result of uncertainty... once we found ourselves quite helpless against this monstrous phenomenon of uncertainty, it would have been then that we would have invented the concept of God and taken shelter under the great umbrella called faith.
Well that is just a view... who knows for sure whether God exists or not? I am certainly not sure either way.

Any invention relates to an exercise of human mind actualizing something unknown and of a subtle nature into something that is intelligible to the subtle intellect or designing and developing of some mechanical contraption augmenting physical comforts of fellow human beings.Since the realm of human intellect and intelligence is limited to particular disciplines in which an individual can comprehend and work with ease such as fine arts or engineering faculties the diverse universal manifestations which are being studied in branched out disciplines by many pioneering human individuals is really mind boggling not to speak of one's own diverse experiences of daily life. Hence all human beings of virtue with profound depth of knowledge, humility and wisdom have accepted a Unitary Source as God as relating to both the primordial cause and ensuing space- time related Phenomenal manifestations as the ultimate source of Universal Creation which is beyond any particular periods of mind related inventions.

Gods (plural) were conceived of quite a bit more than 3-4 millennia ago. Primitive man did not know how to think rationally and didn't have any scientific knowledge, so he fell back on fantasy and fables to explain the unexplainable in the world, like disease, the wind, or fortune/misfortune. Spirits were conceived of first, and the first religions were simple and animistic in nature. Only later did these spirits take on more human qualities, and still later until several religions consolidated them into a single entity called God (singular).

Ouch, somehow, for some reason or another, that question hurts.
I think that if we as humans had no concept of god, we would have invented one so lets see. The earliest man believed in Nature, the providence of mother earth.. The earth provided rain for drinking, sunlight for light, trees and caves for shelter, fruits for food, and the warmth of natural geysers, volcanic vents for warmth.
There was sun worship, moon worship, etc, so my answer is no, it was longer than that.
Organized religion is perhaps around those times, but that is just a guess.

No, deities were invented long before that.
If by God you mean the Judeo-Christian God, though, then it was indeed about 4000 years. (Well, a little more. What year are the Jews on now, 5300-ish?)

God is the star of the show known as Fantasy. I think that he has been in the act for a long time. Maybe, suddenly, God might lift off the set and second into our world as a real Being or personification. State of technology today possible.

I think that God has always been.. And to most people that is a hard concept, mostly because everything we know has a beginning and an end. I mean seriously, think about it, everything that we can possibly conceive has a beginning and an end. I just think that god knew that at the time we couldn't handle all that he had to say so that is why it took so long for anything to be written about him.. That our the whole church conspiracy thing is part of it.

I think that the primative people created "God", back in those days to answer the questions they couldn't, to explain the unknown.
I do kind of believe in the Hindu mythology because of the bridge of the Lanka thing and Hanuman being a monkey-man. (it goes along with evolution)
Even I'm not really sure because there is no way to actually prove all this about religion and God.

In that case God Must be awfully YOUNG!!!. The answer to this question would depend on whether you believe in GOD or not. If you believe in GOD, then you must believe that all living creatures and non-living objects were created by GOD. There is evidence of certain living creatures existing as far back as over 10,000 years ago. So then GOD must have been around for longer than 3,000 - 4,000 years.
If you don't believe in GOD however, what do you care 'bout how old God is?

He IS...
"the Inventor"
He was before anything became/was.
as long as the God you are talking about coincedes with the Ultimate Father of All Creation.
If the Earth- and it creatures evolved how does it sustain itself in terms of Knowledge , Power, Love..
Then there could possibly be an inter-universal dispute, because ,then , we are not alone.
An even to that extent there has to be a Supreme ...
