The intent of debate is/should be intellectual stimulation. The idea that a person truly believes the ideas that they espouse shouldn't really be a big shocker, who would go around spouting off things they know to not be true? Okay, so quite a few people would for shock value or just to tick people off...so let's narrow that down to mature intelligent people and move on.
Believing something, whole heartedly, is all well and good, but intellectual people are able to take what others have to say about a point and go "hey, I hadn't thought about that point before". It may or may not change their opinion in the matter, but at least they are expanding their understanding of the topic.
If the people entering the conversation are unable to learn anything from the people who do not hold their view, that is their loss. It is not a reflection upon the person who begins the conversation, nor any of the other participants. You can only control your own learning process, your own thoughts and beliefs.

I will venture to guess that it has nothing to do with being afraid to hear any free speech - but more to do with the way the questions are phrased. Read the Community Guidelines, keep this information in mind when your designing your question, and you should be just fine - just don't be mean-spirited, nasty, crass, insulting or threatening - adult content is frowned upon here too as it's a 'family site.' As you can see, plenty of folks post questions on a myriad of topics.

A quick search of Yahoo questions came up with 56,391 topics with the word 'guns' in them, 32,201 abortion topics, 3,335 with the word 'nudity' in them----probably all yours. You can look up Muslims, Biblical lies and suckling babies for yourself and you'll find plenty of topics that have not gotten deleted. If you're getting YOUR topics deleted then it's probably because you keep asking the same questions over and over night after night.

Yay a question you asked that isn't about nudity. I never see questions like the above deleted. Seems like the most outrageous ones get the most attention.

Free speech doesn't apply to private business. Yahoo is entitled to have their own guidelines. Yahoo is entitled to implement a reporting system to moderate this website. That's a business decision.
Why can't you just post questions appropriately? This is not rocket science. You have at least 3 incarnations with which you SPAM this category.

When one complies with the Terms of Service, questions will not be deleted.
Look back at your deleted questions and find the reasons you were served violation notices. Try to learn from them.

I don't know, but after the third time I saw one of your questions about being forced to wear clothing vs. nudity, I thought "oh forget it."
And what does this have to do with gender studies anyway?

How do you know it is Americans? Does a little star and stripes icon appear with your 10 point deduction?

I would have thought that this question would have been placed in another section. However, be that as it may, the simple answer to your question is: 'Americans' (I presume that you mean 'people') are too scared of the truth to go out and look for it, in case they actually find it, and it is not to their liking.
