on a train!?? I am supposed to do a letter about how hard a journey is from texas to tennesse. And I have to make it believeable...is it possible?? If not, what type of transportation would be believeable then??

Note: I am supposed to be a man in the 1860's. No cars please...

Yes, I am supposed to enlist in the army for the civil war. Tennessee is the training ground. I can't go all the way with one transportation..I need to switch it up, you know, to make it seem realistic. I am supposed to go alone.

yes, but you would have to sell almost everything you have and arrive with a single trunk of personal belongings with the idea of starting over unless you had the finances to have other household items brough in by wagon or on a train. Its very possible but not easy in that time frame

Are you going to Little Rock or to Tennessee? I guess either way it would not be to hard if you are on horse back, alone with little to no belongings. But if you were taking a wife and three kids with all the belongings you all had it would be difficult. You would have to travel by covered wagon the ride would be hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. You while you would not have to worry about Indians because by then the US had moved all them to Oklahoma you would have to concern your self with running into the military and decide which side you allegiance was to. Most of the 1860's was during the Civil War.
