Time spent with the family back when the family was still big and we had to open the presents under the tree from family members on Christmas Eve to make room for Santa to come and leave presents under the tree for all the kids on Christmas morning. My Dad and my Uncle made a tradition out of never getting their wives presents until Christmas Eve day and would go shopping while my Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother would be in the kitchen makeing Christmas Eve dinner. We always ate the turkey dinner then, because on Christmas day, we went to my other Grandmother's house and did it all over again with my Dad's family. And we always sang carols before we opened the presents on Christmas Eve. After they were all open, we would get egg nog, less the booze for the kids of course, and then we would go outside and do fireworks. My grandfather really loved his fireworks and that was way back when it was legal to do them.

I asked Santa for a stuffed kitten. When I went into the Christmas tree that Christmas morning, there was this precious, little, gray, fuzzy, real live kitten there playing with the bow on a package.

Probably when I became old enough to get drunk with the rest of the family.
Sorry I can't be more specific but I'd had a drop on at the time (as we say here in old Blighty)

Well, my family has a tradition of singing Christmas carols before we open presents and I remember the year my dad asked me to sing "O Little Town of Bethlehem" by myself! I was so scared! It was one of my first solo pieces... ah well, I did fine and I've sung many solos since.

I love Christmas!

My mother would carefully wrap & hide the presents from us only for us to find them, unwrap them, play with them, wrap them back up & rehide them again!! LOL That's what we did when we were younger!! She never knew!! I might just tell her this year at Christmas!!!
Oh yeah!! All the way home from Midnite Mass we would beg her to open just one present when we got home & one always turned into more!! My Mom rocks!!!

Waking up early, and seeing all the presents Santa had brought. They were laid out under the tree, all sparkling, and shiny, and new.
