I was watching movies and I was wondering what do they do to people that can't pay their check. Like if their credit cards are rejected? Would they let one person leave?

Not sure but my mom always would tease me and say that if you couldn't pay they'd make you wash the dishes

At the place I work, it's a very rare occurrence, but when it does happen, usually we request the person leave something of value, or the manager copies down their driver's license information, to ensure that they return to pay their bill. If someone tries to leave without paying their bill, it is considered stealing and they can be arrested.

I'd get people who either had their card declined, or only brought American Express which I didn't take. They usually had an ATM card and I'd tell them there was an ATM a block away to walk to, and I'd keep their drivers license until they got back. It always worked. Sometimes I'd even ask for their keys too if they seemed iffy.

most places will let one person leave or will take their drivers licence info and request that the person bring the money the next day. it works 9/10 of the time

it would be up to the policy of the restaurant management, usually they call the police as it is a crime in most states to not pay your bill.

Then you get a low credit score and you wont be eligible for benefits, renting, loans, mortgage payments, buying a car or a house, and a full list more. That will kinda suck...nvm it will really suck!
