im wondering because they have a heating pad but no heating light

A under the tank heating pad from ZooMed (brand I use) is all that is required to keep your snake warm. You can use a fish light in your tank if you want to just don't keep it on all the time as constant light will irritate the snake. But there is nothing wrong with having a light in the snakes cage, just make sure you have hides in your snakes cage so that your snake can get away from the light if it wants to.

They don't need any lights as they are nocturnal animals--they come out at night and hide in the dark during the day. An under tank heating pad set at the correct temperatures is all that is needed.

This will be fine as long as the temp stays between 80-85 degrees F
