8-4, lost their last couple games, unranked. Why is Michigan going to the Capitol One Bowl? Is it purely for marketing reasons? I mean no offense to any wolverine fans with this question. I just want to know what other people think about it.

The Capitol One Bowl gets the second Big 10 selection (after the Rose Bowl).... if Ohio St was in the Rose Bowl instead of the BCS Championship, then Illinois would be in the Capital One Bowl instead of Michigan.

I wouldn't worry about that.. Michigan got the luck of the draw.. they can't defend the spread offense.. (see App St and Oregon games).. and they drew the team that's most prolific at it.. Florida.. Tim Tebow will rule the Blue.. I say that and I cannot stand Florida or Tim Tebow.. just factual stuff.. Michigan gets embarassed in this one

the outback got wisconsin cause they had been in the capital one 2 years previously and penn st. was in the alamo bowl. Illinois and ohio st. went to BCS games it was michigan or Purdue as the 2nd big ten selection

Because the Tournament of Roses committee tapped Illinois for the Rose Bowl. Without that, Illinois would be in that game.

Because the participants in the Toilet Bowl, had already been determined. (I Personally, Got NOTRE DAME and, WEST VIRGINIA in, about 10 hours ago).
