I'm near the end of my first semester at a community college, and I want to transfer down to southern cali, to a different community college. Would this even be possible & would any of my credits transfer? (At least those that would normally transfer to another university.)

And would me failing one of my classes currently hurt my chances of being able to transfer? (I'm doing moderately well in my other ones, just not this particular one.)

Transferring to another community college should be no problem - people do it all the time. Some people attend more than one at a time.

Whether your courses will transfer very much depends on whether the courses you've taken fit into the degree requirements at the new college.

Community colleges generally operate on an open admissions policy so if you're eligible to return to the school you're at now, you'll be able to attend the new one. Ideally, we don't want to fail classes, failing grades won't transfer to anywhere. ☺

i'm in kentucky so i'm not for sure if its the same, but depending on your course of study, most of your credits should transfer. the only problem i had with my credits transferring were my advanced classes like english 105, and so on that aren't normally offerend at smaller community colleges. it should be easy to transfer to another community college, i would just talk to your transfer office or the admissions office at the college you're looking at about it.

and failure of a class should not hurt your chances what so ever... community colleges normally take students who have done much worse than fail one or two classes.
