i'm a nonsmoker against it. It's not the role of the government (and it's definately not defined in the constitution) to mandate what we can and can't inhale or inject into our bodies...they can make smoking zones in public where smokers can only smoke there, but they can't ban smoking in public altogether. Why not ban public farting?

I don't smoke, and I don't support a smoking ban. I simply don't see how it can be perfectly legal to buy something, but illegal to use it.
Yes, there are certain places you should smoke, like in enclosed spaces with children, or in an oxygen tent, but I see no reason to ban smoking outside or in a bar. In a bar, everyone is drinking poison, and trying to have sex with someone they just met who could have every STD known to man. I think a little second-hand smoke is the least of your concerns.
I spent two years in Germany, and when I came back, I was amazed at how clean the air was in a bar here (that allowed smoking), so I simply don't think a ban is necessary.

Because it is taking away your right of choice. People have the right to choose to smoke, they shouldn't be treated like criminals for that choice.
If you don't smoke, and you don't want to be exposed to second-hand smoke, you have the right not to go into a bar or restaurant that allows smoking.
It takes the right of the business owner to allow smoking in his establishment away. If the owner thinks he can make more money by allowing, or banning smoking, then they should have that right.
Frankly, the government is going after the wrong people, if you want to stop people from smoking, go after the tobacco companies and the farmers, oh, that's right, they have a lot of political power, individual smokers don't.

The smoking ban has caused hundreds of pubs to close, thousands of jobs losses, and one pub group reported a 17% loss in revenue, so many more places will close. People are not socialising anymore (the ban is anti-social) and more kids are drinking in pubs, drug/cocaine use in on the mega increase in pubs, and double the number of people are hanging around on the streets drinking. The reminder of people are all drinking and smoking at home around their children. The police can never have any control, its a bit of a bad move by government!

I don't have a problem with no smoking indoors but I do have a problem with states like California that tell people they can't smoke on their own property. They pay the taxes and the mortgage and if I lived in california I wouldn't put up with that crap. If someone doesn't like smoke then that should give them a very good reason to stay off your lawn.
