I have a VPN connection or (virtual private network) here at home. It allows for a dicount DSL connection throu a University. Anyways, if your not formiliar with a VPN connection, it is a way to connect to the internet. In order to connect i am required to enter a username and password provided by the university. That then "dials" the network, checks the username and password, and connects me to the internet. Here shows my problem, in order to connect i need to (in my understandings) do one of 2 things. Run the program on my psp/ps3. Or 2. connect to my computer via wifi and use my computer as a sort of proxy. Option one is not possible so im left with option 2. Also, I can connect to my wifi connection but cant us the internet connection. without the program. If anyone out there can help, or if you just have an idea thanks for your input.

-Thanks 4 ur help-

Well, how are you connected to the University, dialup? If that is the case, this wont work! Your VPN will only work as fast as your internet connection, so even if you "DIAL" the university you will still be on a DIALUP line! Sorry no speed increase over your in home connection..

A VPN simply allows connection to a remote "private" network, it does not increase the bandwidth available in your home! In fact in many many cases a VPN will actually SLOW the internet connection as you now route to the school and then to the internet!

If you are connected Wirelessly to the school then you could add a second wireless adapter to your pc (attached to the ethernet port - these are called wireless bridges) then use your local wifi in AD-HOC mode to connect to the WII and use ICS (internet connection sharing) on your PC to share the internet connection. BUT you still have to find out if the University will even allow the WII to work, many schools shut off gaming ports to save bandwidth for ... well school use!

Good Luck - Hope that helps.

Edit:
Thought of one other thing, If you have highspeed internet and are using your computer to access the VPN but don't have local internet you can always use Internet Conncetion sharing on your desktop. Just connect your PSP to a second ethernet card on your computer and use ICS... But if you already have internet why would you worry about a VPN?
