It amuses me that white people want a tan while Asians are crazy about getting whiter skin. Why can't they just love their color and be proud of it?

The world is getting more and more obsessed with their looks. It seems no one is happy with the way they look anymore. I live in southern California and sometimes I mistake white people for Mexicans because their skin is so dark from tanning. It's disgusting. I used to tan a lot when I was younger but now that I'm older I cover up with an spf 50. I don't care if I look like Snow White in the middle of July. I was born this way and if people don't like it they don't have to look :)

I avoid the sun as much as possible and slather on sunscreen every time I go out. I hate the way those fake tans look -- some people look so orange!
While we are on the subject, why do so many female celebutantes insist on starving themselves half to death? Do they really think that their anorexic bones jutting out all over the place are attractive?

I think that blacks are like this too actually. Some blacks want to be lighter because they are ashamed of their dark skin. :(
I think that it is part of the human condition to make yourself "better" or change yourself. It is not about race. It's part of being human and living in our superficial world. I think that if you were very pale you might want a tan because it's "popular". Often people like to copy celebrities and do whatever's "hot" unfortunately.
Here's a good question: Why do some black women straighten their hair?
(In my opinion this is the same thing, their natural hair type is curly most of the time.)

Not me, I love my skin color. Its porcelain and people are always telling me to get a tan blah blah blah, but no thanks this is the way I'm supposed to be.

because the media's view of beauty is very twisted and disturbing......people buy into it all the time.....by now they should know that the image of beauty they see on T.V is very flawed
